Mentorship Program for Academic Research

Research Project Schedule

 

Participants will undertake a research project and its corresponding research paper under the personalized guidance of their PhD research mentor spanning a duration of 10 weeks. Throughout this timeframe, participants will engage in weekly one-hour sessions via Zoom or phone with their assigned PhD research mentor. These meetings are designed to be interactive and provide a platform for the mentor to assign tasks to be accomplished before the subsequent session. Participants are expected to dedicate a minimum of 50 hours to the research and writing endeavors within this 10-week interval. The subsequent timeline outlines the sequence of one-on-one engagements with the PhD research mentor throughout this 10-week program.

Our Research Mentors

Our research mentors are a distinguished group of doctoral students representing a diverse range of disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, law, religious studies, and political science, among others. These mentors bring to the table a remarkable academic pedigree, enriched by their notable achievements. Many of them stand as published authors in esteemed academic journals, contributing to the scholarly discourse within their fields. Beyond their publications, our research mentors have garnered recognition on a national level, securing prestigious accolades such as Fulbright and Truman Scholarships, as well as winning competitive national-level grants. This blend of expertise and accomplishments equips our mentors with the unique ability to guide and inspire participants throughout their research journeys, offering invaluable insights and support grounded in their own remarkable academic experiences.

Week 7-8: Drafting and Revision

    • Review the initial draft and provide feedback

  • Week 8: Revisions and Refinements

Week 9-10: Finalization and Presentation

Throughout the 10-week period, the student and research mentor will engage in regular one-hour sessions, covering various aspects of the research process. The mentor will provide assignments and resources for each week, ensuring steady progress towards a well-structured and thoroughly researched final research paper.

 

Final Product

Through close collaboration with their research mentors, students will craft a comprehensive research paper of article length, spanning between 20 to 25 pages. This culmination of their research journey will encapsulate their in-depth exploration of the chosen topic, methodological rigor, and critical analysis of findings. The final paper will not only showcase the students' academic growth but also underscore their ability to synthesize complex information into a coherent and impactful scholarly contribution.
